The Notarial Committee of the Scriveners Company and the Society of Scrivener Notaries were pleased to host the annual Wilfrid Philips Notarial Lecture on 15 June at the City of London Club.
The principal guest speaker was Tomasz Kot, a distinguished civil law notary and European legal commentator from Krakow in Poland who was supported by speakers from the United Kingdom. Topics to be discussed included the implications of Brexit on jurisdiction, the recognition and enforcement of judgments, including enforceable notarial acts, the potential future role of the European Court of Justice and the implications for the freedom of establishment for companies in the EU and the UK.
The evening finished with a panel discussion, a drinks reception and an opportunity for informal discussion.
The lecture evening has been accredited with 2 points for the purpose of the Notaries Continuing Professional Education Regulations 2010.
